Sara Berger first joined the firm in 2002 and returned in 2009 after establishing her own small business and nonprofit firm for four years. She graduated from the University of Colorado, Boulder, with a degree in Business. She earned her Masters in Public Health from the University of New Mexico and her JD from the University of Pennsylvania (cum laude). At Penn, Sara was a Sparer Public Interest Scholar, an Associate Editor for the American Journal of Bioethics, and was a legal intern to the NPR radio program, “Justice Talking.” She was awarded the Alice Paul Award of Penn Assoc. of Women Faculty & Administrators (to students who have contributed to the lives of women, particularly to women in the Penn community).
Before becoming a lawyer, Sara served as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Jamaica, specializing in economic development, and then had a ten year career in academic health care research and administration (public health research and evaluation in particular). As an attorney, she specializes in nonprofit law, antitrust law, election law, corporate law, and complex commercial litigation.
